Your primary mission is to kickstart the day with high energy, ensuring a warm, efficient, and safe check-in process during our busiest morning rush. You will balance exceptional customer service with strict safety protocols, managing the lobby flow so that dogs transition smoothly and safely from their owners to the playroom staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Morning Set-Up & Lobby Prep:
  • Open the facility: Arrive punctually to unlock the facility, disarm alarms, turn on lights, and prepare the front desk computer systems.
  • Maintain lobby presentation: Ensure the reception area, retail displays, and entryway are spotlessly clean, smelling fresh, and free of clutter before the first client arrives.
  • Stock supplies: Verify that check-in essentials (leashes, slip leads, clean towels, treats, and cleaning sanitizers) are fully stocked and easily accessible.

Client Greeter & Check-In Management:
  • Deliver a 5-star welcome: Greet every owner and dog enthusiastically by name, creating a positive, welcoming, and high-energy environment.
  • Manage the morning rush: Keep the lobby traffic moving efficiently while maintaining a calm and organized atmosphere to prevent dog anxiety.
  • Execute safe intake protocols: Safely take custody of dogs from owners using facility-approved slip leads. Swap out personal collars or harnesses according to company policy.

Communication & Administration:
  • Liaise with Back of House (BOH): Accurately relay owner instructions and dog temperaments to the pack leaders and playroom supervisors as dogs are brought back
  • Process payments: Handle packages, retail purchases, and daily daycare payments using the facility’s point-of-sale (POS) software.

Experience & Skills:
  • Customer Service: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in retail, hospitality, reception, or a customer-facing role.
  • Dog Savvy: Basic understanding of dog behavior, body language, and safe handling techniques is highly preferred.
  • Tech Literacy: Comfortable using POS systems, pet management software (e.g., Gingr, PetExec), and basic office suite tools.
  • Multi-tasking: Proven ability to stay calm, organized, and polite under pressure during fast-paced rush hours.

Physical & Schedule Requirements:
  • Morning bird status: Must have reliable transportation and a proven track record of excellent punctuality for early morning shifts (starting as early as 6:00 AM).
  • Physical stamina: Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40-50 lbs frequently throughout the shift.
  • Handling strength: Capable of safely managing and controlling dogs of all sizes and energy levels on a leash.

Core Competencies:
  • Warm & Empathetic: Genuinely loves dogs and enjoys building relationships with their owners.
  • Alert & Safety-Minded: Constantly aware of lobby dynamics to prevent unwanted dog-to-dog interactions or escapes through front doors.
  • Detail-Oriented: Accurate in data entry, managing client notes, and executing morning checklists.
